Marketing Week’s editor Russell Parsons walked away with one of the top prizes at the British Society of Magazine Editors’ awards last night.
Parsons won The Fiona Macpherson New Editor of the Year award, which rewards editors in the first two years of their role. He saw off strong competition from across the magazine industry including new editors at Vice, Grazia and The Sunday Times Magazine, with the judges praising a “strong, consistent vision with fast and tangible impact”.
Parsons says: “It’s an honour to receive this award. It’s a real testament to everyone on the Marketing Week editorial team who produce such amazing content.”
Marketing Week also picked up a highly commended in the Columnist of the Year for Special Interest and Business Brands category for Mark Ritson.
Parsons was also shortlisted for Business Brand Editor of the Year for
weekly, fortnightly or more frequent magazines alongside Catrin Griffiths, editor of Marketing Week’s sister publication The Lawyer. Paul Pensom, art director at Creative Review, was shortlisted for Art Director of the Year.
